Issuing fuel on a limit

The government has focused on implementing a system of issuing a specific quantity of fuel per person for a specified period of time.

The decision has been taken as a solution for the fuel crisis as a result of which people are wasting hours in queues. A number of conflicts have been reported in fuel stations in the recent past.

The government paid attention to the implementation of such a system since the foreign exchange deficit has severely affected importing fuel.

Addressing Parliament, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also said that the government has not given up on considering such a system of restricting issuance of fuel.
