Ranil was appointed as the Opposition leader

United National Party has decided to appoint Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe as the Opposition leader of the Parliament. General Secretary of the United National Party Akila Wiraj Kariyawasam has informed the decision of the party to the Speaker of the Parliament while requesting due facilities to Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe.
There was strong request from Sajith Premadasa faction to appoint Sajith as the Opposition leader.
