The majority of Pohottuva is against the 22nd it seems

That is why the amendment gets delayed

Getting the bill of 22nd passed in the parliament is getting delayed due to the strong opposition of a group of members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna regarding the 22nd constitution amendment bill.

Sarin Lanka of Podujana Peramuna has also strongly protested about giving the President the power to dissolve the parliament after two and a half years.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam, Members of Parliament, SB Dissanayake and Dr. Sarath Weerasekera along with a large group have expressed strong opposition to this, and on that basis, the adoption of the constitutional amendment draft has become a crisis.

A number of members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna have expressed strong objections to the proposed draft constitution at the ruling party group meeting chaired by President Ranil Wickramasinghe last week and at the briefing chaired by Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa.

The peculiarity of it is that in both discussions, except Minister Vijayadasa Rajapaksa, no one else expressed views in favor of the constitutional amendment.
