President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe have reached a consensus that no snap elections will be held until the country's economic crisis is resolved and political stability is restored.
A UNP strongman told "lankanewsweek" that elections, including the Presidential and General will not be held suddenly and will be held on time.
The two sides reached this consensus during the first and preliminary discussions between UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and President Gotabhaya Rajapaksha before becoming the Prime Minister.
During the discussion, UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who had told Gotabhaya Rajapaksha that there is no need for him to resign from the Presidency also assured that he could alleviate the country's economic crisis and stabilize the country economically.
