MP Harsha De Silva is an expert in economics. A standard. Harsha De Silva was one of the names proposed for the post of President and even the post of Prime Minister during this crisis. If his name is nominated for the post of Minister of Finance, it will be approved by anyone. Undoubtedly, his reputation was due to his education, knowledge of the subject and his being a genuine politician.

When the situation remains in that manner, I saw a discussion between Chamuditha Samarawickrema and Harsha De Silva. For me that discussion was a surprise. I request you to let me share this wonder with you.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government paid an allowance of 5,000 rupees for each house. Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said at the time that the allowance should be 20,000 instead of 5,000. Sajith Premadasa stated that if there was Samagi Jana Balawegaya ruling, every house would be paid Rs. 20,000.

The statement drew criticism from across the country and belittled Sajith Premadasa's economic philosophy. If such a large amount of money had been printed and distributed, the situation in this country today would have been even direr.

During the discussion with Chamuditha Samarawickrema, MP Harsha De Silva said that the Rs. 20,000 story was his idea. The MP took steps to lightly deny the devastation that could have befallen the country if the money had been printed. His position was that “Harsha De Silva does not say things that cannot be done".

This statement makes it clear that the devastation that would arise if the leaders of this country acted with confidence in the educated and subject matter experts. It’s my opinion that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa too was destroyed due to the implementation of the ideas given by these experts. Hence I write. Leaders take care if you implement the advice given by scholars who are only well educated.
