When the people of the country are queuing for gas, milk and rice, the Government has printed Rs. 66,500 lakhs even on the last day of 2021. Accordingly, the total amount printed by the Government during the 365 days from January 1 to December 31, 2021 is Rs. 678.33 billion.
It must be said that the printing of this money by the Government is like the printing of counterfeit money from France, when the country celebrates Christmas on Christmas night in the film "Catch Me If You Can". Similarly when the people of Sri Lanka are queuing for gas, milk and rice, the Government has printed Rs. 66,500 lakhs in the last hour of the last day of the year.
the printing of money in this manner by the Government, which had shown a digital magic that $ 1,500 million had arrived in the country the previous day, will result in further skyrocketing the prices of commodities. Within 2021 the Government printed 6,783,300 rupees. It must be said that there has never been such a printing of money in the history of Sri Lanka.
Today inflation is just a number. The prices of goods go up twice or thrice in a day. The Government doesn’t take any steps to control this situation. The country's economy is collapsing day by day. The government's answer to everything is just printing money. When worthless money is minted, commodity prices go up. You can't eat this printed money. More and more people are queuing up to buy the limited rice, gas and milk available in the country.
