Mathara District Parliamentarian of Samagi Jana Balawegaya , Buddhika Pathirana on Monday (04) questioned in Parliament as to why the former Executive Director of the Consumer Affairs Authority, Thushan Gunawardena, who has made two serious revelations regarding corruption in the Consumer Affairs Authority, has not been summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department for questioning.
The Parliamentarian stressed that instead of questioning former Executive Director who revealed large scale frauds including the garlic scam, the CID is questioning Journalists and other few individuals.
Budhika Pathirana further stated that Thushan Gunawardena is planning to submit the files related to these frauds and corruptions to the President and he should be questioned immediately as the person who made these revelations.
Responding to this, Consumer Affairs Minister, Lasantha Alagiyawanna said that neither he nor the Ministry could decide who should be interrogated by the CID and that the investigating units would take necessary steps in the future.
