As of late, it has become a trend to add more and more spices to our food, and that is because they improve the taste and also because some of them are great for our health. One of those spices is ginger, which is becoming a favorite worldwide. Every day we’re finding out that ginger has health benefits, and in turn, it has become a must-have item in every household.
1. Lower cancer risk
According to some studies done, ginger helps to reduce the chance of getting cancer and also helps to prevent colon inflammation. While this is only the beginning of studies done to see how ginger helps to prevent cancer, one thing is for sure, the effects are positive, and we should start consuming it more.
2. Better digestion
Ginger also helps us improve our digestion and reduce intestine inflammation. It also helps to reduce the discomfort from nausea because it is a natural antibiotic. So we recommend that whenever you feel nausea, try some ginger and you will feel better in no time.
3. Reduces soreness
According to a study, people who were performing elbow exercises consumed 2 grams of ginger for 11 days, and reported that their muscle pain had reduced substantially. In other words, ginger helps reduce pain that comes from being sore.
4. It lowers blood sugars
A study made in 2015, 41 participants who had type 2 diabetes, had their fasting blood sugar lowered by 12% after consuming 2 grams of ginger per day. While this is still uncharted territory and other studies need to be made to prove the effectiveness of ginger on combating diabetes, the preliminary results are terrific, and we hope that further studies will help us understand more how ginger helps fight diabetes.
5. Helps with menstrual pain
Dysmenorrhea or menstrual pain is something that women know how hard it is to deal with such pain. In a study made, 150 women consumed only a gram per day, and they reported that they had significantly reduced pain. We suggest that when you go through that pain, to try consuming ginger and see the results for yourself.
6. Protects against Alzheimer’s
One of the worst diseases that we currently face today is Alzheimer’s, and unfortunately, we still don’t know how to treat it since there are no cures for it. The reasons that trigger Alzheimer’s disease are believed to be chronic inflammation and oxidative stress, but some studies made in animals have shown that ginger helps in slowing down these processes.
7. Weight loss
I know that this may be something that many people are interested in knowing since there are plenty of people worldwide trying to lose weight and are facing immense difficulties, especially if we take into consideration that unhealthy food is all around us. Don’t take this the wrong way, you absolutely need to pay attention to your diet, but consuming ginger can also help with losing weight since it stimulates your metabolism to work faster, especially when you’re trying to eat less.
