14 “Zika” virus infected cases have been reported from the southern Indian state of Kerala recently which is transmitted by dengue mosquitoes. Due to the geographical distance between two countries, Sri Lanka is facing the risk of the virus spreading to Sri Lanka, Epidemiologists alarmed.
The medical researches, carried out so far confirmed that the virus is transmitted by Aedes aegypti female mosquito and Aedes albopictus male mosquito both categories falling under dengue family. They displayed the symptoms of the disease are fever, headache, skin rash, joint pain, muscle aches, and red eyes. When young children are infected with this virus, their brains become smaller.
