Prince Joachim of Belgium who arrived in Spain for an internship on 24 May was fined €10,400 for attending a gathering in the southern city of Córdoba after two days of arrival, for breaking lockdown rules.
From 14th May Spin has imposed 14 days quarantine for every foreigner entering the country. He had participated in this gathering without undergoing 14 days quarantine. This gathering came to light when it was given publicity by Spanish media late last month.
I deeply regret my action and accept the consequences” he apologized for his mistake.
He has 15 days to pay the fine, in which case the amount will be reduced by half.
Prince Joachim, 28 is a nephew of Belgium's King Philippe and 10th inline to the throne.
More than 27,000 people have died in Spain from Corona infection since the outbreak began in the country.
