Samantha brought glory to Western Province

Samantha Pushpakumara who represented Western Province won the men championship at the cross country marathon game, held in Nuwaraeliya while Gayanthika Abeyrathne who represented the Southern Province won the female championship.

The race was 10 Km in length which was opened to all in which 88 males and 32 females participated. The champion Samantha completed the race within 34.07.10 timing while Gayanthika completed the race by 40.16.80.

The first price was Rs. 50,000.00, second Rs. 40,000.00, third Rs. 30,000.00, fourth place Rs. 20,000.00 and fifth Rs. 10,000.00

While gold medal was von by Samantha , the Silver by Eranda Thennakoon and the Bronze was won by M. Sivarajan.

In female event, the Silver by K.M. Malinda and the Bronze was won by Nimehsa Madushani.
