Former Prime Minister and leader of the United National party had informed leader of opposition Sajith Premadasa to appoint his Media Secretary Saman Athauda as the Media Secretary of opposition leader.

Mr. Sajith Premadasa who had not taken a decision on this matter yet had inquired from few seniors and activists of the United National Party about the request of Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe.

These seniors and strong activists had emphasized Mr. Sajith Premadasa not to appoint Saman Athauda as his Media Secretary who was among those who destroyed Ranil Wickremasinghe as well as the UNP.

Mr. Saman Athaudahetti while serving as the Media Secretary of then opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe instead of making an effective media propaganda, was making money while taking everything in to his hand and invading the promotional campaigns of the party by writing books, going on foreign tours to Japan, China and India influencing “Mahabody Society” and dubbing commercials, they have pointed out.

These seniors have stressed that Saman Athaudahetti’s activities were directly responsible for the Media to depart from Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe and the party who misused resources of the office of the opposition leader to write books, to organize memorial and various functions and official duties of the Mahabody Society and his privet work while emphasizing that Saman Athaudahetti is a cat’s paw of Ranil Wickremasinghe and a political parasite.

A senior leader of the United National party revealed to “lankanewsweek” that Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe had made this request from Mr. Sajith Premadasa on behalf of Saman Athaudahetti to prevent Senior Journalist Mr. Mahilal M. Senevirathne getting appointed as the Media Secretary of the opposition leader.

Mr. Mahilal M. Senevirathne was serving Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe as his Media Coordinating Officer and joined Mr. Sajith Premadasa as his Media Secretary due to his frustration over Ranil’s political practice, opinions and his behavior as well as Saman Athaudahetti’s arbitrary, corrupt, opportunistic and selfish activities and was the pioneer Chief Editor of “Siya Rata” Paper.

Internal sources of the United National Party further revealed that Ranil Wickremasinghe is trying to destroy Sajith’s political career by getting his political information, plans, programs, strategy and goals while placing his henchmen and conspirators around new opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa.
