An impeachment was brought against President Donald Trump by the House of Representatives. The House voted on two charges, that the President has abused his power and that he had obstructed Congress.

230 voted in favor of the impeachment while 197 voted against it. Trump had to obtain 216 votes in the House of Representatives in his favor to win the impeachment.

The White House released a statement saying that the President was "confident that he will be fully exonerated" in the Senate trial.

The major reason that lead for the impeachment was his alleged attempt to pressure Ukraine to announce investigations into his Democratic political rival, Joe Biden.

Accordingly the trial at Senate will commence in January of next year.

Doneld Trump is the third American President to be impeached by the House of Representatives.
