What happened to votes machines..!

There was a photo which was exchanging in social media at the morning of the day of the Presidential results were been released. That was a picture of Basil and his wife moving though the Airport terminal with some fear on their faces to go to America from Katunayake Airport.

“Basil has evaded the country”

Was the main news of the media the next day. Everyone thought that Basil will never come back to Sri Lanka. Those who went to see Mahinda who was in Madamulana put the blame of the defeat on Mahinda. But no one knew that the people who visited Mahinda at Madamulana were organized though the Urban Parliamentary network by a remote control operating in America. This remote control was in Basil hands. Those who went throughout the country under the slogan of “Will rise with Mahnda” did not know this. They thought that Mahinda was in anger with Basil for leaving him when Mahinda fell in to trouble. But later on they came to know from the Rajapaksha family itself that Mahinda is having a close dialogue with Basil.

“Basil did everything possible to defeat Mahinda . We would have won the 2015 election if not Basil. Basil secretly worked with the international forces to defeat Mahinda. ..”

This was the feeling of those who wanted to rise with Mahinda had. Those who see crocodiles even in a small basin thought Mahinda’s defeat was a conspiracy of Basil . They feared that Basil is conspiring from America to destroy Mahinda. They made an appointment to meet Mahinda to tell about Basil even after a rehearsal.

“ Don’t get down Basil again. He is a puppet of foreign forces...”

They stated. Mahinda only laughed in a laugh. Very soon the information that Basil is coming back to the country was spread like a wild fire. Every one told that Basil is having a deal with Maithree and Ranil through the influence of foreign forces. Basil came back. When he was taken in to custody immediately coming back to the country, every one’s eyes went up. The reason was Basil being the first in the Rajapaksha family to be taken in to custody. Basil came to Sri Lanka knowing very well that he will be taken in to custody. He came back to win Mahinda at the 2015 General Election. But his effort was fruitless. He was arrested for three times. He would have thought of forming a new party when he was in custody. It was not an easy tasks but difficult. It was only two who could win after forming new parties. One was D.S. Senanayake. The other was S.W.R.D. Bandaranayake. Famous Actor Wijaya Kumarathunga was assassinated when he formed a new part after breaking away from the SLFP. Lalith and Gamini who broke away from UNP to form a new party were assassinated. Wijeya’s party was destroyed. Lalith and Gaminis’ party was destroyed. Hence forming new party was considered as a bad sign.

But Basil decided to form a new party. It was his local government membership network which was strength to him even before 2015. He covered the whole Gall face ground using this network. It was from then that those who thought that Basil cannot, started thinking that Basil can. It was that day that everyone thought that making a new party was possible.

His ideal was Chairman of Bhaaratheeya Janatha Party Amith Shaa. The symbol of Bharatheeya Janathaa Party is Lotus flower. Basil selected Lotus Bud as the symbol. Basil got objection for forming a new party from the party itself. They told that Basil is fulfilling a contract of Ranil to divide the Anti government force. It was Maithreepala who planted this germ in the minds of Mahinda followers. Maithree conspired to sabotage the formation of the new party by Basil, using them who had allegations and court cases by threatening. They told Mahinda and Gota that Maithree should be balanced to win the 2019 Election. When Basil’s Podujana Peramuna won the 2019 Election still they did not give the credit of the victory to Basil. They told that the number of votes obtained by Podujana Peramuna will not be sufficient enough to win the 2019 election. They insisted that to win the Election, aligning with Maithree is of utmost important.

“The S.L.F.P. is very important to Podujana Peramuna to win the forthcoming Presidential Election. Podujana Peramuna cannot win the Election without the support of the S.L.F.P…..”

This was their position. Maithree tactfully used them to destroy Basil’s Podujana Peramuna after its victory. Maithree gave the Premiership to Mahinda through a conspiracy to destroy Basil and Podujana Peramuna. When Mahinda requested the Opposition leader’s position after the defeat of the conspiracy and Mahinda’s stepping down from the position, Maithreepala told that Mahinda had to accept his SLFP membership to get the Opposition leader’s position. After that members of the joint opposition accepted the membership of the SLFP. No one went to the party office of Podujana Permauna during this period. Everyone thought that Mahinda will go a journey with Maithree and it is the end of Basil . But Basil went from village to village to strengthen the party. Even though he had a fear of getting arrested any time after being cornered, he did not give up. He could break S.B. who was the political Theoretician of Maithree and battered the Podujana Peramuna most. He was competent enough to inculcate in the minds of Mahinda followers that to win the 2019 Presidential Election, they should contest from Podujana Peramuna. Even though there was an idea that there were clashes between Gotabaya and Basil, he requested from Mahinda to give the candidature to Gotabaya after launching a massive campaign among 7,000 Temples to get Sinhala Buddhist votes. It was not purely from Sinhala and Buddhist votes that Mahinda won in 2005 and 2010. He got Rishard’s Muslim votes too. The main reason to win from Sinhala Buddhist votes in 2010 was the ending of the war. This time Basil used the Easter Sunday attack to get Sinhala Buddhist votes.

Vote’s machine became the most famous word in the Election system after introducing the Executive Presidency. It was Coray’s votes machine which was famous during Ranasinghe Premadasa’s regime. During Chandrika’s time it was S.B.’s votes machine. Mahinda’s period it was Basil’s votes machine. But all of them created votes machines with the state power. It was the State power that fueled the vote machine. Coray went to the opposition and formed Purawasi Peramuna. The votes machine did not work. S.B. crossed to UNP and went to the opposition in 2004. It was S.B. who was the Chief Minister aspirant in 2009. But S.B’s votes machine did not work. The reason was the machine becoming defective without the state power. When Basil went to the opposition everyone thought that Basil’s votes machine is over.

Today Gotabaya won with the use of the votes machine, produced by Basil while remaining in the opposition. The most difficult is to get a votes machine worked while remaining in the opposition. UNP too needs a similar votes machine. A character who could go from village to village undergoing great hardships. A character who is not feared to go behind bars. It is a ghost of Basil who could tune the Sinhala Buddhist votes back to UNP.
