The Attorney General of Israel revealed that Netanyahu is charged on accepting bribes, committing various frauds and breaching trust that were totally denied by Netanyahu.
He rejected these allegations and stated that this is an outcome of a conspiracy. He requested from legal authority to investigate impartially and frame charges if can be proved.
He has also insisted that he will not resign and is not legally obliged to do so.
In a televised speech, Mr Netanyahu said authorities…….
"What is going on here is an attempt to stage a coup against the Prime Minister,"
" Investigators weren't after the truth, they were after me".
Israeli law does not require Netanyahu to step down from the post of Prime Minister if indicted.
As Prime Minister, he would only be forced to resign from the post if he is eventually convicted, where he could face up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine for bribery charges alone, while fraud and breach of trust carry a prison sentence of up to three years.
