Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksha had strictly ordered Hambantota district Parliamentarian Namala Rajapaksha to apologies the Journalists who came to cover up the Youth Conference of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna held at Nelum Pokuna Theatre on Saturday ( 24) for embarrassing them by not permitting them access to the event, in public calling for a Press Conference.

Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksha had given this order to Mr. Namal Rajapaksha on the very night of the Conference, considering complains, referred by a number of Journalists over this incident to him and Basil Rajapaksha. The position taken by Gotabaya faction was that Namal faction would have done it willfully under a well plan to embarrass him as the Presidential candidate.

Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksha had given this order to Mr. Namal Rajapaksha alleging that no one bears responsibilities while emphasizing his family members that he will not allow anyone to act in this irresponsible manner in the future and he will get the retired Military Officers to handle future activities on a highly organized manner effectively.

The opposition leader Mahinda Rajapksha who got panicked on the order given by Mr. Gotabaya Rajapksha to Mr. Namal Rajapaksha immediately interfered with this issue between these two parties and further discussed with the family members over this matter.

Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha got Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksha to agree to apologies these Journalists by young Parliamentarians of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna instead of Mr. Namal Rajapaksha. It was in this background that a group of young Parliamentarians of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna including Parliamentarian Mr. Shehan Semasinghe expressed their sorrow while apologizing these Journalists at a special Press Conference, held on Sunday (25). Publishing contradictory news on this incident some Internet Web Sites and Social Media stated that the request made by the Parliamentarians of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna from Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksha to get the members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Youth Front to apologize these Journalists as a party for the inconvenience caused to them at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Youth Conference, was vehemently refused by Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksha. Gotabaya faction had paid their special attention on the planting of this news in Internet Web Sites and Social Media while taking up the position that Namal Rajapaksha faction had willfully done this at Nelum Pokuna Theatre, which is very clear.

Namal Rajapaksha faction had assigned “ B and S” Event Management Company , owned by “Batiya - Santhush” to handle all the organizing activities of the Ceremony of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Youth Conference held at Nelum Pokuna Theatre and this Company had not officially requested for media coverage from Media Institutes.

Somehow Main Office of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna , situated at Nelum Mawatha had officially requested for a media coverage from all Media Institutes and these Journalists have come to the event on this written request. The Management of “B and S” Event Management Company, owned by “Bathiya-Santhush” and the activists of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna had embarrassed these Journalists by not allowing them to cover this event in a situation where the Office of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna had officially made a request.

It is very clearer from the photos related to this incident that eventhough Journalists complained Mr. Namal Rajapaksha and Diles Alhaperuma on this issue, they have not made a genuing affort to give a solution. The Journalists who entered the theatre while arguing with the Organizers and the Security Officers had to keep standing to accomplish their tasks.

The reason for it was that Organizers refused to offer seats by being very rude to these Journalists while stating “We have not invited you. We have not allocated seats for you. Do whatever you want while keeping standing”. All National Media Institutes took action not to give any publicity to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Youth Conference as a way of expressing their objection over this incident and no publicity had been given to this Ceremony by any National News Paper, published on Monday ( 26) In this Youth Conference organized by Namal Rajapaksha with “B and S” Event Management Company owned by “ Bathiya-Santhush” had not discussed any burning issues, requirements and solutions to these problems, faced by youth and it had taken an entertainment look while providing many entertainment facilities including “3 D – Glass Computer Games.
