Liver is the largest organ inside the body that gets damaged due to bad consuming behaviors. In the modern life style, the liver becomes a victim. Today habitual having of liquor is the key issue in the whole world which totally down turns the life. We completely depend on processed food in the busy life schedule. What we partake is vegetable and fruits that are chemically treated.
Most of our food contains substances used to preserve food for a long time. The use of artificial flavors, is at a high stage. We totally ignore the nutrition value while favoring the taste. Hence the most important organ of our body has to compensate for our bad habits. Keep in your mind that the liver is the most vulnerable organ for damage and you don’t feel it until the last moment. It takes a long time to recover if gets damaged.
Hence I thought of sharing some my knowledge with you to protect this organ. It is located on your right side, midway between your waist and your arm pit. It weighs about 1.4 – 1.6 Kg. As the largest organ in our body, our liver has 3 vital functions, essential to our body: detoxification, synthesis and storage.
There are two distinct sources that supply blood to the liver. Oxygenated blood flows from the hepatic artery and Nutrient-rich blood flows in from the hepatic portal vein. The liver regulates most chemical levels in the blood and excretes a product called bile. Bile helps to break down fats, preparing them for further digestion and absorption. All of the blood leaving the stomach and intestines passes through the liver. The liver processes this blood and breaks down, balances, and creates nutrients for the body to use.
It also metabolized drugs in the blood into forms that are easier for the body to use.
There are major six functions of the liver.
Bile production and excretion.
Excretion of bilirubin, cholesterol, hormones, and drugs.
Metabolism of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. Enzyme activation.
Storage of glycogen, vitamins, and minerals. Synthesis of plasma proteins, such as albumin, and clotting factors.
