Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe emphasized that Leader of the House, Mr. Lakshman Kiriella has been protecting the Government, United National Front and him personally against the Executive since the political coup of 26th October 2018.

He was speaking at a special meeting ( Pre Cabinet) held at Temple Trees on Monday ( 01) with Ministers. He further stated,

“Some of our Ministers take decisions directly dealing with the Executive, disregarding me as the Prime Minister and the party. This situation has pushed us as well our Party in to a political dilemma . Some of our MPs, being sworn in as Ministers, even with our my knowledge, indicates the secret dealings they had with the Executive. It was via SMS News Alert that I came to know that some of our MPS were sworn in as Ministers before President. But our Leader of House , Mr. Lakshman Kiriella fights against the Executive to protect the Government, Party and the Parliament including me. He lost his ministerial portfolio and the related subjects, because of his effort. Hence all our Ministers who directly deal with Executive should take him as an example".
