India is poised to make a strong impression at the 55th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, which will take place in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, from January 20-24, 2025. With a focus on artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability, and fostering global partnerships, India's participation aligns with WEF 2025’s theme: “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age.”
India’s delegation, led by prominent government leaders and representatives from six states, will present a unified vision for the country’s economic transformation, highlighting advancements in technology, renewable energy, and investment opportunities.
According to information shared by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Friday (January 10, 2025), the Indian delegation will be spearheaded by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw (Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT) alongside Ministers C.R. Patil (Jal Shakti), K. Rammohan Naidu (Civil Aviation), Chirag Paswan (Food Processing Industries), and Jayant Chaudhary (Skill Development & Entrepreneurship).
High-level representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala will also participate, showcasing state-level success stories and investment prospects.
The delegation will engage in panel discussions, roundtables, and Government-to-Business (G2B) and Government-to-Government (G2G) meetings at the Davos Congress Centre. The discussions will emphasize themes such as sustainability, economic partnerships, innovation, and AI-driven transformations.
India’s participation will explore solutions across five key WEF workstreams:

India’s Pavilion will host several sessions covering topics of global relevance: AI and FDI: Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Investment will explore AI’s role in attracting foreign investment, co-organized by Invest India and the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA). Infrastructure as an Enabler will discuss the transformation of India’s civil aviation sector and infrastructure excellence. India as a Global Partner will focus on supply chain diversification.
Chemicals Investment Opportunity will position India as a hub for chemicals manufacturing, while Global Growth in India will showcase returns on investment by global companies operating in the country.
Several Indian companies will set up lounges to highlight their innovations, reflecting the country’s growing prominence in global business. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) will also organize sessions to underscore India’s economic growth story.
India’s economic achievements continue to attract global attention. The country recently surpassed $1 trillion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows since April 2000, with a 26% increase in FDI in the first half of the fiscal year, reaching $42.1 billion.
India’s leadership in emerging technologies and renewable energy further enhances its international competitiveness.
